Program Description
Students are introduced to diagnostic and therapeutic laboratory procedures that support bioscience research and practice.

  • Laboratory protocol.
  • Properties of atoms and molecules and how to prepare lab reagents.
  • The structure and function of cells and their components.
  • Proper bacterial identification and maintenance of cultures.

Student Leadership Organization
HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is the student leadership organization for Health Science Education students. HOSA provides students with opportunities to attain the knowledge, skills and leadership characteristics necessary to succeed in a health care profession, through leadership training, career training, and service projects.

Workforce Trends
While biotechnology is still in its infancy, it is a dynamic career field that is expanding by leaps and bounds. “Biotechnology has become the centerpiece of therapy of all ailments, from heart disease and cancers to the common cold,” says Carl B. Feldbaum, president of Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). In fact, biotechnology is predicted to be one of the most important applied sciences of the 21st century.
